Congratulations to the following Scouts who attended the above camp. Keelan Twomey, Jermie Salmon, Connor Hall, Christopher Lackey, Sam Ingles, Tyler Elsey, Joshua Farr, Jamie McFadden, Thomas Owen, Oscar Cussack, Lee Turnbull, David Cayley. The Senior Scouts achieved their Outdoor Challenge Badges having completed this camp. The younger Scouts completed a number of activities towards this award. We had a short visit from our ASGSL Peter Salvage on Friday to wish us all the best with our camp which was a nice surprise.
The Scouts cooked their Lunch on the Trangia Stoves on Friday. In the afternoon the Scouts put up their Patrol Tents. For dinner we had Fish & Chips followed by Ray Mears Survival Videos.
Saturday saw us do Axe & Knife plus clear up the camp fire area, digging out the old ash to start a new path way. We also fitted a new fire surround. All the old wood lying around was burnt plus we raked up the dead leaves from the car park. Saturday afternoon was taken up with Pioneering building “Gateways” using Clove Hitches & Lashings.
I think it’s safe to say the Senior Scouts learnt all about striking tents in the dark with the rain coming down in stair rods. We roped up the Tents & dried them out in the hall. After drying ourselves out we enjoyed a great dinner & a DVD.
Sunday seen us clean up & pack away the tents, with the parents collecting the Scouts at 1.00. pm. A hard weekend but rewarding, all the Scouts were very good.
